Dear Exies,

As some of you are aware, a group of us have been working for over a year & a half and have formed an alumni association which is now a formal, registered body. Great effort has being made to connect with Welhamites around the world & generate a feeling of belonging. It is also our endeavor to raise funds to improve the infra structure in school & assist with the welfare of some of our ex-teachers who need us now…as we needed them then.

Following are some of the highlights of the period gone by:-

  • A dedicated Web Site for registration and data base collection has been created
  • Over 1100 Ex-Welhamites from world over have registered online.
  • The ‘Welham Girls Alumni Association’ has been registered with the Registrar of societies. The memorandum & rules for the same are available on the website.
  • We have got 80G certification. This implies that all those donating money are eligible for exemption of tax.
  • Over 250 exies have taken membership of the association which requires you to pay an amount of Rs. 1000/-.
  • A number of Memorabilia have been designed and are now available for sale.
  • A very successful get-together was organized at Athena in December, 2005.
  • A lunch was organized at Thai Wok in February 2006.
  • In April, 06 we organized a musical evening with Anup Jalota & Loveleena Labroo (batch of ‘74) at the Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. The Welham choir also performed that evening and completely stole the show!
  • Dec, 06 saw a very exciting Polo Match which was very well attended and helped us raise a substantial amount.
  • The Mumbai girls met up in April ’07 to formalize a working committee that has now got into action.

The funds that have been collected are being used for the following:

  • The Golden Jubilee gate & school frontage (to be ready by M & D)
  • A bust of Ms Linnell (to be inaugurated on Founders).
  • Professional audio system for the auditorium
  • Coffee table book on Welham
  • A cheque of Rs.1 lac was presented to Ms Srivastava in Feb 07, on the Schools’ 50th Birthday, on behalf of Welhamites across the globe.
  • We will be presenting money to some of our ex-teachers who require medical assistance as part of the WE-CARE Initiative.
  • We will be honoring all our ex-teachers during Founders Day.
  • We will be offering two bursaries for higher education to children of class IV employees.

We request, any exie who can spare the time, to join hands with us. Meetings are held regularly & all are welcome. Please contact any committee member for time & venue.

We would also appreciate help with fund collection because as you can see, we have a lot to do! A lot of batches are getting together to raise funds. Individuals have also pledged support and some have been very generous already. We look forward to support from every exie because we are all part of the Welham family!

Cheers!!
